The stage
To present, in a single day, the research projects backed by France's Investments for the Future Programme on the management of radioactive waste from decommissioning. Three very different uses to house under one roof: what you exhibit, what you debate among peers, and the teams you need to put in front of one another, without any one of them smothering the others.

The village did the work that coffee breaks never quite manage: in front of a model or a working demonstrator, teams who knew each other only through publications finally talked about their methods. The plenaries set the common frame, the thematic sessions gave it depth, and the video coverage carried the day well beyond the people who were there.
